Michel Peeraer dislikes both the label of artist and that of photographer. He prefers that of… dreamer.
This dreamer, then, is constantly searching for what hasn't already been done, hasn't already been seen. And therein lies the challenge of photography today.
This Belgian, or Luxembourgish, or rather Belgian-Luxembourgish artist, born in 1968 in Arlon, Belgium, to a father from Antwerp and a mother from Beaufort, is self-taught. From 1995 to 2023, he was the sales director, art director, photographer, and more, of the advertising agency he founded in Luxembourg, Everest Communication S.A. It was there that he began using photography—his photography—for his clients. He produced numerous photojournalistic reports in the real estate and automotive sectors.
He didn't learn photography formally.” It was his passions that led him to receive his first "real" camera in the late 1980s. Passions for motocross, nature, cars, and architecture.
Through his artistic profession and contacts with various photographers, as well as a client, an art gallery owner in Luxembourg who introduced him to artists from all backgrounds, he experimented with photography. But without publishing. It was only in early 2023 that he embarked on this new career as a full-time dreamer.
Today, Michel Peeraer has found his style, his own style, already quite recognizable. He primarily uses his camera like a paintbrush. He regularly creates and exhibits magnificent photographic tableaux of the sea thanks to his dynamic technique. And it is this movement that has allowed him to take unique photographs of automobiles. His series, aptly named /(E)MOTION, is currently represented in four art galleries, and many owners of beautiful cars are seeking his services.
