Pascal Brouwer, an artist from the Netherlands.
His journey through the art world was not the typical one you would expect.
He didn't exactly follow the traditional path of going to art school and getting a degree.
No, he was more of a street kid, dabbling in graffiti and absorbing the emerging hip-hop culture of the 80s.
Those early days laid the foundation for what would become his passion and his livelihood. Despite not completing his formal education due to concentration problems, he put his creativity into everything he did – from dance to music production and of course graffiti art.
He discovered his love for architecture through graffiti.
Even as a child, about twelve years old, he sketched architectural buildings. Funny how life goes, right? There were run-ins with the law and many ups and downs along the way. But he knew he had something special to offer.
His style? Well, it's a bit of a mash-up. He takes elements from architecture, throws in some street art vibes and sprinkles some graffiti influences on top.
The result? Urban abstract art that jumps off the canvas.
He works mainly with spray paint, no airbrush stuff, and he creates everything in real time, without sketches or digital tricks.Nowadays you can find him in his studio in the Cobercokwartier.
It's a temporary setup, but it's where the magic happens.
For him, it's not just about making art – it's about connecting with people. It doesn't matter whether it's the lawyers or the fellow artists, but there is a sense of camaraderie and inspiration.
He believes that art should bring color and life to spaces, whether it is a gallery or someone's living room. And if his work can bring a little peace and relaxation into someone's life, gel dut is satisfying.
So yes, that's him – Pascal Brouwer, the artist with a passion for urban abstract art and a love for bringing a touch of color into the world.
